Harry Newman has withdrawn from the England squad to play France in Perpignan on Saturday (23 October) after aggravating a leg injury in training this week.
While the Leeds Rhinos centre joins the likes of Oliver Gildart, Toby King, Mark Percival and Dan Sarginson on the sidelines, his absence opens the way for another promising centre - Warrington Wolves' Connor Wrench - to join England's senior set-up for the first time.
21-year-old Wrench was a try-scorer last weekend in England Knights' 56-4 victory over Jamaica at Castleford. And, like Knights captain and club colleague Danny Walker who is also in the squad to travel to Perpignan, Wrench becomes another player to demonstrate the strong connectivity between the Knights and the senior squad.
France versus England will be shown live on BBC TV on Saturday 23 October - part of an international double-header also featuring the England Women's team against their French counterparts.
The Women's match will be shown live on BBC2 with a midday kick-off UK-time - the first England Women’s international to be broadcast on terrestrial TV - followed by live coverage of the Men's international on BBC1 at 2.30pm.
To celebrate England Men's and Women's matches against France this weekend, and the England Wheelchair side's test matches against France in November, England replica shirts are available for a limited time only at £25. The offer is live from now until midnight on Sunday 24 October with shirts available to buy at eliteprosports.co.uk.
