Betfred Championship Round 11 Round-Up

Betfred Championship Round 11 Round-Up

The Yorkshire rivals did battle at the Tetleys Stadium and the hosts were blown away during the opening 40 minutes.

Rovers crossed over on five occasions to make sure of the result by the break but Rams produced a dogged second-half display to restore some pride.

Sammy Kibula went over for Featherstone in the fourth minute before Kheirallah grabbed the first of three tries in the 14th minute and Jesse Sene-Lefao was the other visiting player to cross the whitewash before half-time.

Rams were able to produce a strong response with an Aiden McGowan double leading the charge for the home side.

Morgan Smith went over twice for Rovers too in a show of their strength to open up a three-point gap at the summit over fellow 1895 Cup finalists Leigh Centurions.

York City Knights made it six victories in a row with a hard-fought 20-6 success at rivals Bradford Bulls.

The hosts were scoreless until the final minute with Knights producing another superb defensive showing.

Away captain Chris Clarkson, who was forced to play out of position at centre, opened the scoring to make it 4-0 at the break.

Knights increased their advantage, despite having Matty Marsh in the sin-bin, when hooker Will Jubb produced a wonderful turn of pace to go over.

Brendan O’Hagan was the next York player to show off his speed with a fine finish towards the end of the match and although Elliott Hall ensured Bradford did register some points, the bragging rights belonged to the third-placed Knights.

Halifax Panthers remain fourth after Sheffield Eagles were put to the sword in a 38-14 defeat, with Ben Tibbs able to claim a hat-trick.

Workington Town stay bottom and pointless after a 26-12 reverse at Barrow Raiders, who are sixth in the standings.

Elsewhere, Widnes Vikings produced a 10-try display with Matty Fozard helping himself to a hat-trick in a 56-16 thrashing of Whitehaven.

Second-placed Leigh travel to Batley Bulldogs in the Monday night fixture looking to keep the pressure on promotion rivals Featherstone.
