Report: Batley Bulldogs 0-52 Leigh Centurions

Leigh Centurions kept up the relentless pace at the top of the Betfred Championship with a stunning 52-0 win at Batley Bulldogs in front of the Premier Sports cameras on Monday night.

It was a ninth league win in a row as Adrian Lam's side stay just one point adrift of league leaders, Featherstone Rovers.

After an early arm wrestle, it was Leigh who took control at Mount Pleasant, the away side going 12-0 up after 20 minutes thanks to two Keanan Brand tries, converted by Krisnan Inu.

Aaron Smith's try, goaled by Inu, made it 18-0 with just 23 minutes played, then Brand completed an impressive hat-trick on 32 minutes.

Edwin Ipape was next to go in just before half time and Inu converted to put the Centurions into a healthy 28-0 interval lead.

Batley stepped things up in the second half as they carved out chances and kept Leigh at bay soon after the restart, but it wouldn't last as the visitors found another gear.

Joe Mellor was first to bag a second half try, going over on 56 minutes with Inu converting for a 34-0 advantage.

That was quickly followed by a try for Our League Player of the Match Joe Wardle, ahead of a try for Inu on 69 minutes.

Ipape then rounded off the scoring on 74 minutes. Inu ended the night with eight goals from nine conversion attempts for a comfortable 52-0 win on the road for Leigh.
